As Dayfly Publications’ third year approaches, we’re proud to announce our first ever official competition. There are three categories to choose from. Each category has a top prize and several runner-up prizes. You may enter all three, or two, or one. The closing date, and terms and conditions can be found at the bottom of this page.

  • Fan Art Category

  • Fan Fiction Category

  • Q&A Category

Fan Art Category: For the artists among you, simply draw or craft something related to Imperium Lupi or Dogs of Mars: DFTM. This can be your favourite character(s), a scene that stuck with you, an object like a vehicle, weapon, building or symbol; whatever you like. Entries will be judged by members of the Dayfly Office, including cover artist Mike Nash, looking for execution, effort, meaning and relevance.

How to enter – Submit your artwork as a jpeg or png to imperiumlupi@outlook.com which is our temporary fanmail address. Use the subject ‘Artwork Competition’. OR point us to a location where you have posted the artwork, such as FA, DA, Twitter, or your own private host, or message Imperiumlupi at any of those places.

  • First prize: Signed hardback copy of Imperium Lupi or Dogs of Mars, at winner’s discretion.
  • Second prize: Bloodfang wall banner.
  • Third prize: Badge and sticker sets.

Fan Fiction Category: I know a lot of you are writers. To participate in the fan fiction category write a 1200-2400 word scene, roughly 2-4 pages of a Dayfly-sized novel, based either on Imperium Lupi or Dogs of Mars. You can insert your own characters, use characters from the books, or combine both. Entries will be judged by members of the Dayfly Office, including the author himself. It can be as epic as a bloody fight scene, or as simple as characters chatting in a bar. The more it evokes the chosen setting, the better.

How to enter – Submit your writing as a word doc to imperiumlupi@outlook.com and use the subject ‘Fiction Competition’. OR you can point us to a location where you have posted the writing, such as FA, DA, or your own private host, or message Imperiumlupi at any of those places.

  • First prize: Signed hardback copy of Imperium Lupi or Dogs of Mars, at winner’s discretion.
  • Second prize: Bloodfang wall banner.
  • Third prize: Badge and sticker sets.

Q&A Category: If you don’t feel up to drawing or writing, but still wish to participate, then you can simply ask us a question. We get a lot of questions! “What inspired you?” “Will there ever be a sequel?” “Who’s your own favourite character?” Don’t ask these three examples as they will soon be answered in the Q&A section anyway. Instead pose original, yet relevant questions.

How to enter – Submit your questions via email to imperiumlupi@outlook.com or PM Imperium Lupi at FA, DA, or use the Contact Us form here at the website. Your questions can be about any aspect of the book, author, cover artist, or other things.

Each entrant is allocated two questions. Only one will be considered for publication, so you have two chances. Set your questions out clearly in your message and include the name you wish to known by, like this:

Name:

Q1:

Q2:

Each published question/answer will have the questioner’s name included, but anonymity for the shy is also an option (just put ‘Anonymous’) you will still receive a prize if we use your question.

  • First prize: Full Imperium Lupi or DoM badge set + stickers
  • All those who ask a question that is ultimately published on the website will receive an Imperium Lupi or DoM pin badge
